The presentation provides an insight into the measurement of the electrical capacity of the root system. The method is a fast, simple, in situ technique that does not harm the plant, which, in addition to the size of the root system, can provide information on its water and nutrient uptake activity.

The presentation will touch on the history of the method, its models in principle and its practical applicability. The use of the procedure through the effect of colonisation of root environmental stress factors and mychorrhizal fungi will be presented, as well as the conditions for field monitoring of root activity.
