New European soil hydraulic prediction algorithms published with lead author Brigitta Szabó

The European soil hydraulic prediction methods were updated with the lead of Institute for Soil Sciences, Centre of Agricultural Research, ELKH. The knowledge of soil hydrological properties is indispensable for climate smart land use and water management and in environmental models where soil and water interactions are considered. The most commonly used soil hydraulic properties can be computed from easy to measure or already available soil properties with the newly derived algorithms. The research was supervised by Senior Scientists Brigitta Szabó (Tóth) and published in Geoscientific Model Development journal.

The prediction algorithms are built in a user friendly web interface – available both in English and Hungarian – and an R package (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.4281045). The R scripts to develop the predictions are available from https://zenodo.org/record/3759442.
