Dendrochronology is a scientific research method that goes beyond simple tree ring calculations, with which, in addition to the dating possibilities provided by tree ring databases, many environmental information can also be collected and analysed. The basic premise of dendrochronology is that the tree ring is an information carrier in which some characteristics of the vegetation period of a given year (eg. precipitation, sunlight, temperature, local environmental factors) are stored in some form. If the effects on individual tree species are the same, they will grow similarly, resulting in similar tree ring thickness. This unique phenomenon provides the reliable basis for chronology building based on synchronization. Accurately dated chronologies from the present, dating back to the past, are called master or absolute chronologies that can exceed more than 10,000 years in length.
